In a well-to-do town north of San Diego where the surf rolls in all day against a broad sandy beach, residents are coping with an unexpected disturbance.
At the home once owned by the ex-wife of an oil tycoon, in Del Mar, construction crews are said to be busy converting an already grand house into a bachelor pad for Bill Gates.
“They make a lot of noise, my baby can’t sleep,” one neighbour told the New York Post. “It’s been a nuisance,” another told the paper.
Gates bought the ocean-front house in 2020 with Melinda, his wife at the time, for $43 million, from Madeleine Pickens, the former spouse of the Texas oil man T Boone Pickens. The house boasted six bedrooms, a
